Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality of HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) questions in the PTS (Mid-Term Assessment) exam for Arabic Language subject in Grade VII at MTS Ar Rohmah Petapahan. Using a qualitative approach, this research collects and classifies the exam item data to determine the extent to which these questions measure students' higher-order thinking abilities. Although HOTS questions have been implemented in the students' exams, there has been no testing regarding the validity and alignment of these questions with HOTS criteria until now. Through the analysis, it was found that out of the questions analyzed, 8 questions met the HOTS criteria, while 2 questions did not fall into this category. The results of this study are expected to provide an overview of the implementation of HOTS questions in exams and serve as a foundation for further evaluation in the development of future exam questions, as well as a reference for future researchers.
