Abstract

An Arab is one who is born and raised in an Arab environment, but the term "Arab" refers more to one who speaks Arabic. Arabic is internationally recognised by the United Nations and is of interest to a wide range of people, including non-Muslims.  Baitul Huda Foundation developed an Arabic matriculation programme in the hope of making the language the language of communication in their environment. This study uses a qualitative method with a focus on the activities and achievements of participants in learning Arabic. The management of the matriculation programme involves the planning stage, which is an intensive programme three nights a week that concentrates on speaking skills only. The organisational structure includes the head of the da'wah division of the foundation, the designer of teaching materials, the teacher and the administration. As for the implementation process, the teacher prepares what teaching language he will convey so that the process of carrying out the activity is directed, and evaluation, the point is to see how the development of students by finding deficiencies can immediately cover it and if there is progress can maintain its consistency. Participants' interests include the application of Arabic in daily life, its use as a communication tool, and understanding of religion. Participants' achievements include the ability to memorise vocabulary and apply it in daily conversation according to the learning material.
