Pengaruh Status Pernikahan terhadap Komitmen Akademik Mahasiswa STDI Imam Syafi'i Jember

This research aims to analyze the effect of marital status on the academic commitment of STDI Imam Syafi’i Jember students. The research employed a quantitative design with a survey method using questionnaires and online forms. The instrument was tested for validity using Pearson correlation and declared valid, while reliability testing with Cronbach’s Alpha (0.742) indicated good internal consistency. The data met both normality and homoscedasticity assumptions, allowing for simple linear regression analysis. The regression results revealed a significance value of 0.149 (> 0.05), indicating no statistically significant effect of marital status on students’ academic commitment. The regression coefficient (–2.438) suggested a negative tendency, meaning married students tend to have lower levels of academic commitment, though the relationship was not statistically significant. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.043 showed that marital status contributes only 4.3% to academic commitment variation, while the remaining 95.7% is influenced by other factors not addressed in this research. Thus, marital status is not the main determinant of academic commitment, and further research is recommended to examine other variables such as family support, learning motivation, or economic conditions.
