The Correlation between Marital Status and Employee Commitment at STDI Imam Syafi’i Jember

The evolving work environment presents continuously complex challenges in efforts to improve human resource quality. One aspect that draws particular attention is how marital status may influence an individual's behavior and commitment in the workplace. Employee commitment is a fundamental factor in determining loyalty, productivity, and the sustainability of an educational institution. Sekolah Tinggi Dirasat Islamiyah (STDI) Imam Syafi’i Jember, an Islamic higher education institution in East Java, Indonesia, possesses a unique demographic profile with most employees coming from strong religious education backgrounds and diverse regions across the country. This study aims to identify and analyze the relationship between marital status and the level of employee commitment at STDI Imam Syafi’i Jember. The research utilizes a quantitative approach with an associational research, involving 30 respondents from the STDI Imam Syafi’i Jember institution. The results reveal that marital status is not the dominant factor influencing employee commitment. Instead, commitment is more likely influenced by other factors such as welfare, a healthy work environment, and leadership style. Therefore, to enhance employee commitment, the institution needs to focus on more significant influencing variables and design programs that tangibly support employee loyalty and engagement.
