Abstract

Fanaticism towards a teaching, whether political, social or so on, can actually destroy the person concerned. Indonesia is one of the countries where to date there are still many conflicts due to diversity. In fact, if people are aware that Indonesia is the largest multicultural country in the world, it will actually be a gift to be grateful for because it enriches Indonesia's socio-cultural diversity. This research aims to help make Indonesian people aware of the importance of multicultural education. This research focuses on multicultural education, which is instilled through Islamic religious education. This qualitative research uses a normative-philosophical approach with data collection techniques through secondary sources taken from various library research and relevant to the problem being studied. Data analysis techniques go through reduction, display and verification stages. The results of this research show that there are characteristics, principles, goals and concepts of multicultural education as an effort to give birth to a generation of people who can humanize humans, respect each other above existing pluralism and foster an attitude of love of peace between each other. Then, this research shows that the values ​​of pluralism contained in multicultural education can be instilled through Islamic religious education. Apart from that, the integration-interconnection between multicultural education and Islamic religious education proves that the two fields of science are related to each other, so that in this research there is no dichotomy of science.
