Abstract

This study explores the role of education and knowledge in increasing the political awareness of Generation Z ahead of the 2024 presidential and legislative elections. The results of the study show that civics education in schools and universities helps form the basis of political knowledge, while social media and other digital platforms serve as the main source of political information for this generation. Generation Z tends to be open about social and environmental issues, often using social media to express opinions and influence change. Despite the prevalence of misinformation and obscure campaigns on social media, which discourage some young people from participating in politics, this study highlights the importance of involving young people in politics. Education is not only about understanding the political system, but also about how to develop critical skills, information literacy, and a deep understanding of crucial issues. The results of the study show that social media plays an important role in providing political information and encouraging political involvement in the younger generation, especially generation Z.
