Sandwich Generation: Studi Komparatif Ideologi Liberal dan Tafsir Al-Qur’an dalam Penanganannya
Keywords:
sandwich generation, Islam, liberalAbstract
The term 'Sandwich generation' was a concept first popularized by Dorothy A. Miller in 1981 in her article titled "The ‘Sandwich’ Generation: Adult Children of Aging". The main challenges of being a sandwich generation involve financial and emotional burdens, job demands, inflationary economic conditions, and other issues that may potentially trigger emotional conflicts within oneself. Previous research has focused on the Islamic perspective, and therefore, it is necessary to include a comparison with solutions to the same phenomenon from a different perspective. This will allow an understanding of how the spiritual solutions in Islam impact the sandwich generation. This study will focus on a comparison between liberal thought and Islam in addressing the phenomenon of the sandwich generation. This study is a type of library research. The aim of library research is to identify various theories, propositions, principles, and others that can be used to analyze and solve the research problem. The purpose of this study is to compare solutions to the same phenomenon but from different perspectives, to see how the focus on spiritual solutions in Islam impacts the sandwich generation. This research will focus on comparing the liberal perspective with Islamic teachings in addressing the sandwich generation phenomenon.
